1 oz Silver Britannia Coin BU - Random Year

$38.05

One of the most traditional silver coins of the market reaches its second issuance with a new obverse design that depicts King Charles III.

After decades of stamping the beloved effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the Britannia Series has updated its obverse design to welcome the new monarch in 2023.

Besides being a symbol of the British realm, Silver Britannia Coins may be an interesting purchase option for investors seeking diversity for their assets.

Silver Britannia Coins are made of .999 fine silver, which makes them a long-lasting option in your investment portfolio to preserve your wealth against fiat currency devaluation.

Coin Highlights

  • Contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver in BU condition;
  • Holds a £2 face value and legal tender status;
  • The obverse design displays King Charles III;
  • Britannia is on the reverse;
  • Micro-text, latent image, tincture lines, and surface animation as security features.

The Design

The reverse design features Britannia holding the Union Jack Shield and a trident representing Great Britain’s naval history.

The inscriptions encircling the image are “‘BRITANNIA’ 2024’ 1 oz’ 999’ FINE’ SILVER’” referring to the series, issuance, weight, purity, and metal content.

Four security features make the Silver Britannia one of the safest against counterfeiting in the world.

On the lower-left hand of the design, there is a trident head within a circle. The trident changes to a padlock according to the viewer’s perspective.

Another visual animation is included in the background. The waves come to life as the coin is tilted from side to side.

Britannia’s Union Jack Shield is accented with tincture lines, and a micro inscription surrounds the design with the words “Decus et Tutamen,” which means “an ornament and a safeguard.”

The new obverse design depicts King Charles III, a Martin Jennings' creation. The Latin inscription at the borders read “CHARLES III - D - G - REX - F - D - 2 POUNDS - 2024,” which translates to ‘Charles III, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith.’

The Mintage

Silver Britannias are among the most sought-after silver coins worldwide. Made of 99.9% fine silver, these coins have displayed Britannia as a motif and the head of the Royal Family since its release.

Besides the evolution in purity levels, the advances in the coin’s security features have contributed to the coin’s recognition as one of the safest silver coins in the market. Following their gold counterparts, the silver coins feature the same four anti-counterfeiting measures on the reverse design.
